Moreover, the European Commission proposed a regulation on the establishment of a European Prosecutor's office based on Art. 86 TFEU.
The EPPO (European Public Prosecutor Office) will be an independent Union body and it will have competence to investigate and prosecute EU-fraud and other crimes affecting the Union's financial interests.
This improvement in the European Union Law will concern the Union's financial interests, till now more or less protected. The Office has a deterrant and a prevention effect.
It will combine European and national law-enforcement efforts in a unified, seamless and efficient approach to counter EU-fraud.
